The same two barbers, every time.

50 of our 54 Google reviews are five stars. You have probably sat in a chair where the person holding the clippers had never seen you before. That does not happen here. Moses and Agatha are the whole shop — no rotation, no whoever is free.

Haircuts, beard trims, head shaves and hot-towel shaves on Higgins Road. Walk in, or call ahead and we’ll put you first.

Tuesday to Saturday, chairs open at 8:00 AM

How a visit goes

Four steps, and none of them involve an app.

No account, no deposit, no scrolling through somebody’s booking calendar.

01

Walk in, or call first

Walk-ins are always welcome, and appointments come first. One phone number, and a person answers it.

02

You get Moses or Agatha

Two barbers, two chairs. Whoever is free is somebody who already knows the room — and before long, your head.

03

Say what you want

Cut, beard, head shave, hot towel. Flat tops are a specialty. Kids get soft talk and a lollipop.

04

In and out

You came for a haircut, not an appointment slot. Nobody is going to sell you a membership on the way out.

What we do

Eight things, done by two people.

The whole menu, cut by the same two pairs of hands every time.

HaircutThe everyday cut, done the same way each time you sit down
Haircut & shaveThe full sit-down — the cut first, then the razor
Shave onlyStraight razor on its own, no haircut needed
Beard trimShaped, lined and tidied. Fathers and sons, same chair
Head shaveTaken clean to the skin and finished smooth
Hot towel shaveHot towel, lather, razor — the way it is meant to be done
The flat topStill cut by hand, and still cut level
Kids’ cutsEight-year-olds, eleven-year-olds, and the ones who would rather not

You have probably noticed there are no prices on this page.

What you pay depends on what you are having done — a beard trim and a hot towel shave are not the same job. People feel awkward calling a shop to ask a price. Some have felt it makes them look like they are shopping around. What they find is that it takes about ten seconds, and nobody here thinks anything of it.

The two of us

Moses and Agatha.

Two barbers, one shop, and the same two people in the chairs since we opened on Higgins Road. Ask for either one by name.

Moses, outside the shop

Moses

The owner. Beards, flat tops, and the patience for a child who does not want to be here.

Agatha

The second chair, and half the reason regulars keep coming back to this one.

Both of us

Between the two chairs, most people end up with a barber they stop having to explain themselves to.

“Moses and Agatha are truly fantastic and welcoming. I have been going here since they opened.”

What people say

Fifty people gave us five stars. Here are six.

Every one of these is on Google, with a name attached to it.

“Moses and his partner are terrific. Easy appointments, in and out. Moses cuts an excellent flattop. The other day there was a very young lad who was NOT happy about getting a haircut. Moses’ combination of soft talk and lollipops soon had him calmed down. Nice to see.”

Patrick Norton

“This place is the best — I take my 11 and 8 year old boys and they really like it, my dad loves it as well. No frills, just good hair cuts and a really nice staff.”

Melissa Genson · Local Guide

“Very nice barbershop. Both Moses and Agata are very nice, courteous and professional. This is the only place I go for my haircut. Very good people and good barbershop. I greatly recommend.”

Allen Benedict

“Moses and Agatha are salt of the earth… I won’t be going to any other barber as long as these two are still here.”

Jeremy Carey

“Moses & Agatha are FANTASTIC!! Love the new location. They are very clean and following covid guidelines properly. Masks worn by everyone, disposable aprons, sanitize the seats etc. I feel very comfortable. Highly recommend!!”

Nick Stiglic

“Moses is fantastic he has been doing me and my sons beard for years won’t find better.”

Questions

The things people ask before they come in.

Do I need an appointment?

No. Walk-ins are always welcome. If you are short on time, call (847) 890-1639 first and we will get you in ahead of the walk-in queue.

What time do you open?

8:00 AM, Tuesday through Saturday. Tuesday to Friday we close at 6:00 PM; Saturday we close at 3:00 PM. We are closed Sunday and Monday.

How much is a haircut?

It depends what you are having done. Would it be unreasonable to call (847) 890-1639 and ask before you drive over? We will tell you the price then and there.

Who cuts hair at Moses Barbershop?

Two barbers: Moses, the owner, and Agatha. That is the whole shop, and it has been the whole shop the entire time.

Do you do beards, head shaves and hot towel shaves?

Yes — beard trims, head shaves and hot towel shaves, and a straight-razor shave on its own if you do not need a haircut. Beard work is a lot of what we do.

Are you good with kids?

It sounds like you have had a haircut turn into a fight before. Kids are a good part of what we do — eight-year-olds, eleven-year-olds, and the ones who would rather be anywhere else. For those we have soft talk and lollipops.

Where exactly are you?

116 W Higgins Rd, Park Ridge, IL 60068 — on the north side of Higgins, in the storefront row, with parking out front. We are minutes from Norwood Park, Edison Park, Niles and Des Plaines, and a short drive from O’Hare.

Are you open on Sunday or Monday?

No. We are closed both days, every week. The first chair of the week opens at 8:00 AM on Tuesday.

One phone number

Two barbers, one number, no app.

It sounds like you are tired of explaining your haircut to somebody new. Call ahead and we will put you first; walk in and you are welcome. Either way it is Moses or Agatha in the chair beside you.
